The Difference between Toroidal Roller Bearings and Needle Bearings and Advantages of Toroidal Roller Bearings

The difference between toroidal roller bearings and needle bearings

The toroidal roller bearing is a new kind of radial roller bearing and a kind of single row bearing, which has symmetrical rollers with long and slightly cambered surface and raceway contours. This kind of compact self-aligning roller bearing combines the self-aligning ability of spherical roller bearings and the unlimited axial displacement ability of cylindrical roller bearings. What's more, it also have a small cross-sectional area, which is usually a feature of needle bearings.

Needle bearing is a roller bearing with cylindrical roller, and the roller is thin and long relative to its diameter. This type of roller is called a needle roller. The bearing still has a high load bearing capacity even with a small section. Needle bearings are equipped with thin and long rollers (roller diameter D≤5mm, L/D≥2.5, and L is the length of the roller), so the radial structure is compact.

When the inside diameter and load capacity are the same as those of other different types of ball bearings, the outside diameter of needle bearings is the smallest. So they are especially suitable for supporting structures with limited radial mounting dimensions.

Needle bearings have large bearing capacity and are suitable for supporting structures with limited installation size. The surface of the journal is hardened as a rolling surface, and the bearing is loaded into the seat hole with a pressing fit, so there is no need to position it axially. The bearings should be injected with appropriate amount of grease before installation, and generally there is no need to lubricate them after assembly. When the BK type bearing is used in the bearing with no protruding end of the journal, the end face seal plays a sealing role and can withstand small axial movement.

Advantages of toroidal roller bearings

Toroidal roller bearings allow for axial displacement without causing additional axial force or friction. Therefore, they only bear external radial and axial forces in the new bearing system. The new toroidal roller bearing system produced by China bearing manufacturer DALIAN GUANGYANG BEARING CO., LTD. offers the product with the following advantages:

(1) Lower bearing load

(2) The bearing distribution is improved

(3) The interval of re-lubrication is prolonged

(4) The reduction in size is possible

(5) The service life of bearings and lubricants is significantly prolonged
